Rob & Chelsea McFarland

In 2011 Rob and Chelsea McFarland became aware of the decline of our bee population and knew they had to make a difference. In collaboration with MVCC they conducted a feasibility study on legalizing urban beekeeping in Los Angeles. They then created Honeylove, a non-profit organization dedicated to education and outreach on the plight of bees and the impact to our planet. Over five years they have built a network of concerned citizens nationwide who do outreach in schools and public forums while acting as bee advocates. This summer, the LA City Council approved the beekeeping ordinance, which has gone to the City Attorney's Office for review and will hopefully soon go back to City Council for the FINAL VOTE!! Chelsea and Rob are testimony to the fact that every one of us has the power to make a difference.
