Rachel is truly one of the unsung
heroes of her neighborhood. While
pursuing an illustrious career at one of this country's premier think tanks,
she has found the time to save a Mar Vista landmark. Quite a few years ago, when Firestation 62
was moved to a new location, Rachel became one of the leaders of a grassroots
movement to preserve the old Firestation 62 building, and transform it into a
Community Center. Her tenacity,
intelligence, and creativity have been instrumental in moving this idea to
fruition. And although the struggle to
make this idea a reality is not yet over, it hopefully will be in the near
future, thanks to the persistence and courage of Rachel and her compatriots.
