Michael (Rocky) Stenger, community
volunteer extraordinaire. He has been volunteering at Walgrove Elementry
for the past 18 years. Since that time he continues to tutor students in
reading and is one of the core members of the Walgrove Wildlands and Edible
Garden program team. Starting in 2002 he was critical in raising funds
for a new "Wonder of Reading Library" as well as new playground equipment
at Walgrove. As a member of the VenMar Neighborhood Association he was
part of the team that got a new kindergarten play yard installed. The
play yard was dedicated in 2005 and has been open to the community on weekends
ever since. He also is a strong member of the Seeds to Plate Program Team
at Mark Twain Middle School, providing resources, technical expertise and
guidance on how to incorporate the garden learning activities in to the core
curriculum.
