Dorothy Garven volunteered at the
Lange Foundation for over ten years helping with the dogs, walking and
befriending them, until they were suitable for adoption. Many times they would
receive dogs that were so traumatized that they were not ready or suitable to
be adopted. They would do their best to regain the dog's trust, so it could be
adopted and become a loving and trusting family pet. It was very rewarding
work for her, but she had to give it up because she could no longer physically
do what was required.
Dorothy hopes others will come
forward and volunteer to do this very rewarding and satisfying work.
All they need to do is walk into the office of any rescue place and offer
themselves as a volunteer. There's never enough love to go around to fulfill
the need. The animals will thank you and so will Dorothy.
