The big day is almost here!  The Mar Vista Recreation Center will once again filled up with booths, bouncies, food, performers, artists, politicians, volunteers, and of course, lots of kids! And the Mar Vista community is truly the star of the show!  The Mar Vista Community Fall Festival & Silent Auction is brought to you by the Mar Vista Community Council, with the invaluable assistance of our Festival Partners and Sponsors, and the Mar Vista Recreation Center.

And we are very pleased to announce a special partnership with our CD11 Councilmember Mike Bonin, who is bringing many community and City organizations to present a Community Resources Fair within the Festival.  Please take some time to visit their booths and learn more about the City and community resources available to you.

This year the chosen theme is “Celebrating the Arts”, and that is exactly what we will be doing all day.  Starting at 10:00 AM and continuing non-stop until 4:00 PM, the Festival will include live stage entertainment from our community schools and performing groups, a community Art Exhibition showcasing our talented artists, giant slides and bouncers, games, a SilentAuction, food, arts and crafts, face painting, lots of community and business booths and demonstrations, and much, much more!

Additionally, the MVCC and  Planning Committee are very pleased to announce that the special honoree of this year’s Festival is Lorraine Wells, a long time Mar Vista community member, businesswoman, and friend, whose energy, passion, and commitment to making things happen really represents the essence of what it means to be community volunteer.

The Silent Auction has become an important function of our annual Festival, and we hope all in the community will plan to take part in the auction by taking the time to visit the Auction, held again in the Auditorium, and vigorously bid on items of interest to you.  All proceeds from the auction will go to help defray costs of the Festival, or to fund various worthwhile projects at the Mar Vista Recreation Center.   And while you are in the auditorium, let your eyes lead you to the walls surrounding the room, which contain our community Art Exhibition, presented to you by our amazing Mar Vista arts community.

And we are all looking forward to a very special event in the day’s activities.  The MVCC would like to take a moment at around 3:00, on our Entertainment Stage, to honor and celebrate a man who has been an icon in our community for many years, the one and only, recently retired Councilmember BillRosendahl.  Please join us at the Stage to help us let him know how much he means to our community.

Please join us today in celebrating our Mar Vista community.  Visit with old friends, make some new friends, and learn even more about Mar Vista from the wonderful collection of booths awaiting your visit!
