Found Animal Registry

Found Animal is a non-profit with a focused mission: Saving Pets, Enriching Lives.  Their FoundAnimals Registry is the primary micro-chip registry that the industry uses.

With an estimated 6 - 8 million dogs and cats entering U.S. shelters and approximately 50% of these animals being euthanized yearly, Found Animals focuses on a select group of strategic priorities to help reduce shelter intake, or accelerate live release rates. Some of our key programs are:

- Adopt & Shop
- Found Animals Registry
- Michelson Prize & Grants
- Spay and Neuter Advocacy

Support for Found Animals comes from the generous contributions of Dr. Gary Michelson and Alya Michelson.

A Purposeful Rescue

"WHAT IS A MAGICAL UNICORN?" YOU ASK. MAGICAL UNICORNS ARE AMAZING DOGS WHO, FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER, HAVE SIMPLY BEEN OVERLOOKED AT CROWDED SHELTERS.

They're dogs who may not run to the front of their kennel to greet visitors, so they're less frequently seen. Maybe they're shy, or they just don't do well in the stressful shelter environment. Perhaps they have a treatable medical condition and just need someone to give them a little extra care. Whatever the reason, these dogs find themselves running out of time at the shelter. Previously overlooked, once you get these Magical Unicorns out of the shelter and into a loving foster or forever home, they reach their full potential as happy, loving companions!

"APurposeful Rescue" will join us this year, bringing 10-15 dogs ready to be adopted. You can find their booth near Mar Vista Mutts booth and The LA City Animal Services Department booth.

Strut Your Mutt

This year the "Mar Vista Community Fall Festival and Silent Auction" is supporting  the annual "Strut Your Mutt” event, which is being held at Exposition Park on the morning of Saturday, October 22nd, 7AM -1PM.  The events are timed so that supporters can attend both in support of clearing our shelters and saving the lives of our animal friends.

"Strut Your Mutt” is the day all of the animal rescue organizations come together to promote the cause of saving the lives of thousands of animals in our shelters across the city. In support of the cause, the Mar Vista Community Festival will also feature numerous animal support and awareness booths including a “Strut Your Mutt” booth, sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society.

Please spread the word to your animal friendly friends! Let's make Los Angeles a No Kill City!
